Hornet Hits Milestones as Largest Global LGBTQ Media Company
Last year was an exceptional period of growth for Hornet culminating in several exciting milestones we are excited to share. As the #1 gay app in several markets around the world, including France, Russia, Turkey, Brazil, Taiwan and with rapid growth in the United States, Hornet exceeded 25 million users in 2017. This sizable user base combined with our compelling user experience is why we were able to serve 31 billion ad impressions and to facilitate the sending and receiving of 13 billion in-app messages by our users.
While these numbers are indicative of Hornet’s technological success, people are at the center of what we do. The essence of our mission is to support, inform and protect the LGBTQ community. That’s why we published nearly 7,000 LGBTQ-relevant stories in seven different languages last year. It’s also why we built the Know Your Status program which, in 2017, hit one million participants who are opting to share their HIV status thereby reducing stigma and building a supportive Hornet community for people living with HIV.
In 2017, these inspiring numbers affirmed the merit of our product and the strength of our amazing community. The year ahead holds even more promise and we are thrilled about where we are heading next as Hornet continues to be the world’s most engaged social network for the gay community as well as the largest media company to postivietly impact the lives of LGBTQ people globally.
