Colorado Safety Policy

This page provides safety information required under the Colorado Online Dating Services Safety Act and explains how Hornet works to keep its community safe.

For full details about our rules and enforcement, please see our Usage Guidelines and Safety Pledge.

Prohibited Content and Conduct

Hornet does not allow behavior that threatens the safety or well-being of our community. This includes harassment, abuse, fraud, impersonation, exploitation, illegal activity, and non-consensual conduct.

You can read more in our Usage Guidelines.

Criminal Background Checks

Hornet does not routinely conduct criminal background checks on members.

Instead, we use a combination of reporting tools, moderation, verification systems, and fraud detection technology to help maintain a safe platform, as described in our Safety Pledge.

Members are encouraged to exercise caution and use Hornet’s safety features.

Identity and Age Verification

We use several tools to help ensure authentic profiles and reduce abuse, like optional profile verification using selfie matching, biometric liveness verification to prevent impersonation and repeat offenders, AI-assisted age checks in certain regions, and additional verification in higher-risk scenarios.

These tools help keep the community safer while maintaining user privacy.

Account Suspension and Bans

Hornet may suspend or permanently remove accounts that violate its policies, terms, or applicable laws. Enforcement actions may result from user reports, moderation review, or internal safety systems.

More details about enforcement actions can be found on our Usage Guidelines.

Appeals Process

If a member believes their account was actioned incorrectly, they may contact Hornet Support to request review of moderation actions. In many cases, users who have been banned will see an in-app appeal flow when attempting to log in, allowing them to submit an appeal directly.

Appeals are reviewed by trained team members, and additional information may be requested where needed.

Reporting and Blocking

Hornet provides tools that allow members to report profiles, messages, or behavior that may violate Hornet’s policies. Reports are reviewed by moderators and may lead to warnings, content removal, or account action.

You can find how to report safety concerns on our Quick Safety Guide.

Submitting false or malicious reports may result in enforcement action.

Notification of Reports

When we receive a safety report, we review it carefully and take action where appropriate to protect the community. This may include removing content, issuing warnings, suspending accounts, or applying other preventative safeguards.

Our safety systems combine human moderation, behavioral abuse detection, bot and automation prevention, fraud and risk analysis, and biometric safeguards.

To protect user privacy and reduce the risk of retaliation, Hornet does not reveal who submitted a report and generally does not share investigation details with any members. People who submit reports may be notified when a review is completed, but we do not disclose specific enforcement outcomes, as per our Privacy Policy. Hornet also does not notify users who may have previously interacted with a reported account.

We encourage everyone to use the reporting and blocking tools available in the app to protect themselves and flag concerning behavior.

Consent and Legal Notice

Sexual conduct without consent is strictly prohibited and violates both Hornet’s policies and applicable laws. Members who engage in non-consensual conduct may face account removal and potential legal consequences.

As part of its commitment to user safety and its public Safety Pledge, Hornet promotes respectful, fully consensual interactions to reduce harassment, coercion, and other harmful behavior, and to foster a safer, more accountable community.

Safety Measures

Hornet includes multiple features designed to help users stay safe, including profile verification tools, biometric anti-abuse protections, reporting and blocking features, screenshot protection (where supported), expiring/view-once photos, approximate distance and location protections, privacy controls and device security compatibility.

These measures help detect harmful behavior and protect the Hornet community.
