Brazil’s Homophobic President Just Tweeted Out Video of a Gay ‘Golden Shower’

Brazil’s homophobic new president, Jair Bolsonaro, inaugurated on January 1, 2019, is no fan of gay people, as he’s proven time and time again. He’s blatantly homophobic, has said he would “hit” two gay men if he saw them kissing in the street and — most recently — is leading Brazil’s new Congress in requiring Bible study in public schools and repealing gay marriage. But today people aren’t discussing his gay-hating policies; instead all of social media is focused on the Bolsonaro golden shower tweet read and watched ’round the world.

The Bolsonaro golden shower tweet is intended as an attack on queer people and their celebrations during Carnival, which is currently underway in São Paulo. In the video, snapped during one of Carnival’s “blocos” (the term used to describe local street gatherings), a man (presumably a gay man) urinates into the hair of a fellow queer partier.

Here’s the Bolsonaro golden shower tweet, but note it’s NSFW:

Translated into English from his native Portuguese, the Bolsonaro golden shower tweet reads:

I do not feel comfortable in showing this, but we have to expose the truth to the population to have knowledge and always take their priorities. This is what street parties during Brazilian carnival have become. Comment and take away your conclusions.

After the tweet made its rounds on social media, it became clear that Bolsonaro had no clue himself what a “golden shower” was.

A follow-up tweet from the Brazilian president hilariously read, “O que é golden shower?” which translates to “What is a golden shower?” (Of course, all Bolsonaro had to do was call up his buddy Donald Trump for the answer.)

Some have said that Bolsonaro’s tweet is actually an attempt for him to discredit the protesters of his policies — many of whom are LGBTQ people — who have come out onto the streets in celebration of Carnival this week.

What are your thoughts on the Bolsonaro golden shower tweet?
