Coronavirus seems to be all anyone is talking about these days, and as of today the COVID-19 outbreak has reportedly been diagnosed in more than 100,000 people worldwide. Massive annual events that take place around the globe are being canceled left and right, and GCircuit’s SK 2020, Asia’s largest gay circuit party timed with the Thai national holiday Songkran, is the virus’s latest casualty. News of the canceled Songkran 2020 event was announced by GCircuit late Thursday.

In its statement about the canceled Songkran 2020 circuit party, GCircuit relayed that it was an unfortunate decision, but since even the most strict measures couldn’t guarantee guests’ safety, it was the right move.

Those who had already purchased tickets for the canceled Songkran 2020 event have been given two options: they can obtain a refund (minus incurred fees) or save their ticket for next year’s big circuit party, SK2021. Those who choose the latter option are also being offered a drink coupon.

“The safety and health of our customers are of the utmost importance to us. That’s why we made the very difficult decision to postpone the event,” says GCircuit’s statement.

Here’s the entire official statement regarding the canceled Songkran 2020 event:

Postponement of GCIRCUIT’S SK2020

Due to the current bleak situation of the COVID-19 outbreak, GCIRCUIT has decided to make the difficult decision to postpone SK2020 to next year.

As much as we’re saddened to make this announcement, we know that it’s the socially responsible thing to do. We can’t take any risk of this virus to infect our guests and spread at our event; and the subsequent dire consequences it may cause.

It’s truly been a tough month for us. We’ve been closely monitoring the infection statistics worldwide, and at the same time making preparations to follow the guidelines from the government to prevent infections. However, there’s no guarantee that even the best measures will keep our parties safe from this deadly virus. We, therefore, had to make the hard decision to postpone our event.

There are two choices available for those of you who’ve already purchased the tickets.

1. Get a refund. We offer you a refund of the tickets you purchased. Do note that there will be admin, processing or transfer fees incurred. If you wish to get a refund, please email your request to ops@gcircuit.com. You should receive your refund within 45-90 days after you have received a confirmation email from us.

2. Keep your tickets for SK2021. Of course, this is not the end of the world. We will keep our heads high and we’ll rise again next year. Your SK2020 ticket will still be valid for SK2021 should you choose to. And to show our appreciation for your support, we will offer a drink coupon worth 500 THB for each ticket kept for next year (Not applicable for people who purchase pool party tickets only). We will send out a newsletter to everyone who purchased tickets for SK2020, and you just need to select the option to keep your tickets for next year.

The safety and health of our customers are of the utmost importance to us. That’s why we made the very difficult decision to postpone the event. We wish that you will stay safe during this arduous time and we hope to welcome you back to the city of angels for SK2021.
