Find a Place to Get Hitched With This Guide to Global Marriage Equality

The International LGBTQ+ Travel Association, also known as IGLTA, has been providing free travel resources and information on LGBTQ-welcoming tourism around the world since 1983. The organization’s mission is to promote LGBTQ safety and expand queer tourism globally. Just recently the group published the IGLTA Guide to Global Marriage Equality & LGBTQ+ Rights in observance of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia on May 17.
This online IGLTA guide outlines which countries and regions around the world allow same-sex marriage, and also features a Pride flag app that sources LGBTQ laws, rights and social sentiment in over 250 countries. Covering important details like how many countries recognize same-sex marriage (29 around the world) and how many countries call for punishment of same-sex activity between consenting adults (over 70), the guide is beneficial for LGBTQ travelers and tourism professionals alike.

The Pride flag app is an incredible resource as well. Utilizing each color of the rainbow flag, it visualizes six areas of LGBTQ rights and protections: global marriage equality, sexual activity laws, gender identity protections, anti-discrimination laws, civil rights & liberties and social media sentiment. The flag itself becomes a visual bar graph you can use to determine what sorts of rights and protections you have as an LGBTQ person in the country you’re looking to travel to.
