No, a Blow Job From Another Guy Doesn’t Necessarily Make You Gay

In an interview with openly gay Bravo TV exec Andy Cohen, Carl Radke, a 32-year-old cast member in the Bravo reality TV series Summer House, opened up about his sexual experience with another man (though he continues to identify as a straight man). Anyone rolling their eyes over a man identifying as straight after having sex with a man should know: Getting a blow job from a guy doesn’t necessarily make you gay.

In the most recent episode of Summer House, fellow cast member Stephen McGee, 27, said to Radke, “You said to me, sitting on a couch right next to me, that the best head you ever got was from a guy.” The airing of Radke’s past felt like a betrayal to Radke.

He told Cohen:

I can tell you this, Andy: I’m a straight man — very confident in my sexuality. Stephen is actually one of my first gay friends. I told him something — yeah, I didn’t really know how to communicate it to him, and I made more of a joke than I should have — but I told him very private information about something happening to me when I was 22. It took me 10 years to actually come to grips [with it] and share it with someone.

I shared it with one of my gay friends, and somehow that got permeated to other people finding out, and here I am, having a conversation about it. Honestly, I felt like he betrayed my trust … but I’m a straight guy, very confident in myself, and unfortunately crazy shit happens to guys sometimes.

Here’s video of Carl Radke talking with Andy Cohen about the blow job in question:

Yes, you can get an enjoyable blow job from a man and identify as straight. It doesn’t make you gay necessarily, in much the same way that many guys have slept with women while still identifying as gay. It doesn’t mean that guy is now bisexual or permanently attracted to that gender, and even if he was, gone are the days of restrictive sexual labels — fluidity is in, y’all — and how someone self-identifies is as important as the labels we use to describe their behavior.

A blow job doesn’t make you gay. Agree? Disagree? Sound off in the comments.
