Lil Mama (‘Memba Her?) Pledges to Start a Heterosexual Rights Movement (Cue Laughter)

Be first to like this.

As if this year hasn’t been brutal enough, Lil Mama has announced she is starting a Heterosexual Rights Movement.

Yeah, you read that right. A Heterosexual Rights Movement. For that infamously oppressed group … the Heterosexuals.

The (former?) music artist, of “Lip Gloss” fame, posted as an Instagram Story, “I”m about to start a Heterosexual Rights Movement” before offering up a diatribe on “Anti-LGBTQ bullying.” Here’s what she had to say in the post, which it must be said uses the font Comic Sans:

Y’all fight so hard to be respected and SOME of you, NOT ALL, get a kick out bullying people for having an option [she probably meant “opinion”], how they dress, how their hair and or makeup looks, how much money they have, etc. There are so many people afraid to give their honest [opinion] because if they do the LGBTQ+ will hear what they want to hear and take statements out of context.

I don’t have to prove myself by reminding people that I have loved ones of the LGBTQ+ Community. When I speak I’m not trying to hurt anyone, I’m just speaking my truth, just like you all.

If you’re asking yourself, “what is going on?” you’re not alone. Apparently, this is all a response to some criticism Lil Mama recently received for sharing and making transphobic comments.

The post she shared on her Instagram (words not her own) says: “So children are too young to smoke cigarettes, too young to drink alcohol, too young to get a drivers license, too young to go to a club, too young to gamble, too young to rent a car but old enough to cut off their genitals and/or ‘change’ their gender? This is insanity #America”

Lil Mama then added an incoherent comment of her own: “DEPOPULATION AT ANY COST CAT FIGHTS SWORD FIGHTS Used be a cat now ima dog WHATEVER TO STOP NEW LIFE REPRODUCTION”

So how did we get from point A (transphobic comments that were rightly called out for being transphobic) to point B (heterosexuals being oppressed by the queer community so we need to have a movement for our rights)?

Well … we didn’t.

Heterosexual people are not being oppressed anywhere in the world. End of story. And I think it’s equally important to add here that calling someone out for being transphobic is not, and never will be, oppression. Also, to be clear, gender identity and sexuality are wholly different constructs. Many trans people are indeed heterosexual.

But, hey, start that Heterosexual Rights Movement anyway, Lil Mama. While you’re at it, have fun at the Straight Pride Parade. Maybe you can get someone really cool to perform, like Kid Rock.

What do you think of Lil Mama’s Heterosexual Rights Movement?
