GX (aka. GaymerX) is an annual tabletop and video game convention focusing on LGBTQ issues. Its panels and workshops cover gaymer culture and queer representation in video games as well as game development.
Crowd-funders helped raise over $90,000 for the convention’s first year. It has since grown to include high-level corporate sponsors and vendors as well as speakers and personalities from across the world including gay games creator Robert Yang and transgender media critic Katherine Cross. The convention has also helped raise awareness about trans-misogyny in geek culture, bullying and class issues in gaming and queer artists and allies working to make gaming more inclusive.
