Lucas Entertainment Under Fire for Tone Deaf Title of New Film Starring Black Actors

Lucas Entertainment, the gay porn studio behind the 2018 Pride month release Fag Fuckers, recently released a gay porn flick entitled Black Cocks Matter, an offensive play on the Black Lives Matter movement that opposes the extrajudicial murder of Black Americans by police. Lucas Entertainment has since changed the title to Black Cocks Rule, but one of the film’s three black performers, Max Konnor, says he and his co-stars were unaware of the title while filming.

Lambasting the porn studio’s crass title, the gay porn gossip site Str8UpGayPorn (link NSFW) writes:

“Using Black Lives Matter — maybe the most important activist movement of our time, whose purpose is to prevent violence against Black communities inflicted by the police and other government agencies — to fetishize black men in a porn movie is not really a surprise coming from a bigot like Michael Lucas, but it is something of a new low, even for him. Certain types of porn movies or porn genres will of course always be offensive to some, but making a parody out of the fight to prevent state-sanctioned murder of black men is beyond ‘offensive,’ and should be abhorrent to everyone.”

Michael Lucas

Michael Lucas, the CEO of Lucas Entertainment, has become infamous for his Islamophobia. In his 2010 column for The Advocate, he dismissed all of Islamic culture by stating “whatever that may be” and more recently he referred to all Muslims as “barbarians,” ignoring the fact that American Muslims actually support gay rights more than American evangelicals.

We have reached out to two of the scene’s three black performers, Bama Romero and Max Konnor (pictured in the featured image above), and to its sole white performer Devin Franco to see what they thought of the initial title and how they feel about the change.

Konnor has already said via Twitter that he and his co-stars weren’t notified of the title before they began.

When asked his opinion on the film’s initial title, Konnor tells Hornet, “I did not find it funny. Michael Lucas reached out and the name of the film has been changed.”

It’s encouraging to see that Lucas Entertainment has apparently changed the title of Black Cocks Matter to Black Cocks Rock on the company’s official website, but the initially tone deaf title is evidence that the porn industry clearly remains clueless about race and racism.

In 2018 the gay porn awards known as the GayVNs created a furor for having a Best Ethnic Scene category that sequestered many performers of color into a single category. The awards organization later apologized and then made it even harder for performers of color to win.

Many gay porn performers have told us they consider racism in gay porn to be a complex and deep-rooted issue. Many gay porn studios rarely feature performers of color, preferring to endlessly crank out scenes featuring only white performers.

What do you think of Lucas Entertainment’s latest film, Black Cocks Matter?
