Frameline50 Returns to San Francisco, Celebrating 50 Years of Queer Cinema and Culture
The world’s largest and longest-running LGBTQ+ film festival returns to the Bay Area this June as Frameline50 celebrates five decades of queer storytelling. Taking place June 17–27, 2026, the festival will feature films, conversations, and community events across San Francisco, Berkeley, and Oakland, including a return to the iconic Castro Theatre. Hornet is proud to continue its partnership with Frameline in support of LGBTQ+ voices and filmmakers around the world.
This year’s lineup features some of the most anticipated voices in queer cinema, including Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex, the acclaimed romantic drama Helen Walsh’s On the Sea, and special screenings of the Wachowskis’ queer cult classic Bound and William Friedkin’s Cruising, starring Al Pacino. The program also includes documentaries, international features, and emerging filmmakers celebrating the diversity and creativity of LGBTQ+ storytelling worldwide.
Among the festival’s marquee events, Frameline50 will honor acclaimed actor, playwright, and filmmaker Colman Domingo with the Variety Creative Conscience Award. The festival will also feature a special conversation celebrating Domingo’s career and cultural impact.

At a time when LGBTQ+ communities continue to face growing political and cultural challenges globally, Frameline50 highlights the enduring power of queer storytelling to connect, inspire, and build community. Hornet is honored to support a festival that has championed LGBTQ+ cinema for five decades.
