Composed of more than 200 critics and journalists writing for media outlets in America, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom, GALECA every year bestows Dorian Awards on the films and performances it deems the year’s best.

Among the categories voted upon by GALECA are film, director and performances of the year, specific categories for LGBTQ films and television series, plus a “Rising Star Award,” a “Wilde Wit of the Year” award, “Wilde Artist of the Year” and a “Timeless Star” award.

This year’s voting saw The Favourite take three big awards, Film of the Year, Film Performance of the Year – Actress (for Olivia Colman) and Screenplay of the Year (Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara).

Can You Ever Forgive Me? starring Melissa McCarthy and Richard E. Grant, was also acknowledged, winning Dorian Awards for Grant’s performance as supporting actor and LGBTQ Film of the Year.

Among the TV shows acknowledged this year by GALECA are Pose, Schitt’s Creek, Killing Eve, Full Frontal With Samantha Bee and RuPaul’s Drag Race.
