Campy Cult Classic ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ Is Getting Remastered in Time for Pride Month

Be first to like this.

The gay cult classic Girls Will Be Girls is about to get a whole lot more watchable. What a way to kick off Pride Month!

Strand Releasing, an American film production company, is known for distributing highly acclaimed foreign, indie and LGBTQ films. Now it’s remastering the 2003 campy cult classic Girls Will Be Girls, which stars drag legends Coco Peru (Clinton Leupp) and Varla Jean Merman (Jeffery Roberson) and actor Jack Plotnick — who plays the very bitter Evie Harris.

The story itself is a tale as old as time, including: one washed-up C-list actress, one bright-eyed young starlet and one lonely spinster who’s still in love with the doctor who performed her abortion. They are bitchy. They are catty. Their collective dream is to make it in Hollywood.

And starting June 1 (Happy Pride!), they are going to be available in high-definition.

Watch the trailer below for a taste:

It’s been 18 years since the gay cult classic Girls Will Be Girls came out — which is wild for those of us who still think the early 2000s were only a mere decade ago — so it’s just about time for a little Botox.
