Have you ever wondered how you could help make the Hornet community better? Did you know that Hornet has several programs that allow you to contribute and also get rewarded while you do? Among these programs are Hornet Moderators, Translators (story and app), Beta testers, Writers, Featured Guys and Health Ambassadors.

Hornet has several Moderators who have been loyal to that Contributor Community Program for years now, and we thought we’d interview three of them so you can get to know them, and also so they can share their own motivations for participating in the program.

Get to know these 3 users who are part of the Hornet moderator program:

1. Erkul, from Turkey, Hornet user since 2014

Why did you decide you wanted to be a Hornet moderator?

We don’t use Hornet only to consume; we need to participate, support and help at the same time. Deciding to help the community, I have proudly joined not only the Hornet moderator program but also the Translation, Health Ambassador and Featured Guys program as well.

What kind of advice do you have for other Hornet moderators?

Be objective, be honest and be a good listener. Sometimes people share their account problems with us because they consider us a bridge between them and the Hornet staff. Our duty is not only to report violations but also help other users who ask for help.

How do you spend the rewards you get as a Hornet moderator?

Sometimes it’s good to save them, but Hornet offers many tempting options from gift cards to Premium account upgrades (which you can also send to others). The choice is yours…

2. Okan, from Turkey, Hornet user since 2018

Why did you decide you wanted to be a Hornet moderator?

I simply wanted to make a difference! About two years ago one night, I was chatting with a friend when he shared his Hornet Moderator experience, and he persuaded me to apply. After I received my badge, in a matter of weeks I was ranking at the top on the weekly challenges and swiftly climbed the stairs. I got involved in the forums, helping other community members and answering Q&As. Soon I found myself eligible to an invitation-only Expert Moderator’s role, which eventually opened up opportunities to receive privately assigned tasks and special earnings.

What kind of advice do you have for other Hornet moderators?

Broaden your perception to tolerate variety. Really, push your borders. The community is more important than what the moderators will deliver.

How do you spend the rewards you get as a Hornet moderator?

My first purchase was Hornet premium membership for one year with my first month of earnings; I still remember how proud of myself I was back then. My personal favorites are Apple Store or Amazon Store gift cards. As of now I’ve bought an Arduino kit, Android box, Alexa Household automation gadgets and, my all-time favorite, a coffee percolator — the coffee smell alone boosts my mood for the day.

3. Matin, from Iran, Hornet user since 2019

Why did you decide you wanted to be a Hornet moderator?

I think every community needs order, especially if it’s a social media community. In my country, many guys use Hornet, and some guys do not follow the guidelines and rules. So I decided to work with Hornet as a moderator to have a clean and safe social community for guys in Iran.

What kind of advice do you have for other Hornet moderators?

My advice to eager friends who want to become a Hornet Moderator is not to be embarrassed to ask mentors for help. And ‏I know it’s amazing to record your report, but it doesn’t matter how many reports you make in a day, week or month; the quality of your work is the most important part of your job. Believe me!

‏We all didn’t have the right skills from the beginning. We tried, we asked for help, and we paid close attention to the quality of the reports rather than their number. That’s the key!

How do you spend the rewards you get as a Hornet moderator?

As you know, after submitting a valid report, you will be rewarded. ‏I charge my iTunes with the points I earn every month. That is an amazing part of my work.

More info on the Hornet Moderator program

Erkul, Okan, and Matin are just three of the hundreds of Hornet Moderators around the world helping to create a social network free of violence and abuse. And, best of all, they exchange the points they earn as a Hornet Moderator for Apple, Netflix and Google Play gift cards, Hornet merch and even Premium access for them and their friends. (We even have one moderator from Turkey who recently exchanged all his Hornet Moderator points for a $300 USD gift card!)

We thank all our Hornet Moderators for their hard work and contributions. If you want to be part of the program and Hornet’s larger contributor community, you can find more info and apply here.
