No matter which field you choose in life, marketing has become an integral part of every field. Whether you cook food, paint or make music, marketing is something you should keep yourself updated about. If you’re an up-and-coming musician, the first thing that you will need is to increase your fan base. You need to make sure that you can woo the hearts of those who take your music to another level.

Here are some marketing techniques to promote your music in 2018:

Practice makes a man perfect

Whether it’s 2018 or 2050, you can never undermine the importance of practice. Gigging is what will make your music better, and it will also develop an audience that experiences your music first hand. Although it isn’t anything new, it goes a long way. You should try to open for other singers; this will give you access to a larger audience that are already fans of your genre. Playing in front of such an audience is sure to create new fans.

Use the power of social media

As the days pass by, social media has become an integral part of our days. Everyone is on social media regardless of the place or the time. You should use this to your advantage. You should post snippets of your music on Snapchat, use live videos to show the process, such as songwriting sessions or jamming sessions so people can relate to you on a  personal level. You can use Twitter to share updates and Facebook to share the stories behind every song.

Create a professional website

While social media will play an active role in enhancing your social media presence and awareness about your music, one thing you must have is a professional website along with your updated music profile. While fans may have a greater presence on social media, music companies like professionalism and a professional website gives an impression that you are serious about your music and want to take it to the next level.

Become an all-rounder

The number of musicians is increasing with the increase in pop culture and music in general. The number of students pursuing music as a career is rising each year. You should think about what percentage makes it into the spotlight, only a handful. Now is up to you to decide which group of people you want to belong to. Nowadays music is more than just music; you have videos and performances. You should be a fantastic performer and an amazing singer.

Collabs and giveaways

Another major trend nowadays is collaboration videos. If you’re an aspiring music artist, find other people and make collaborative music. Who knows, you might just hit the charts as event entertainment. You can have sing-offs and riff-offs. Create content that is entertaining and shows off your music. YouTube is the best platform to do so. You can also arrange for giveaways. Who doesn’t like free stuff?
