It’s the end of an era. On May 4, 2021, Yahoo Answers will shut down. Starting April 20, 2021, the website will be on read-only mode, which means they will no longer be accepting new submissions. Some (read: many) have likened this devastating news to the burning of the library of Alexandria. And are they wrong? No.

Yahoo Answers has been solving our most pressing issues and giving us quality content since 2005. In a letter to active members explaining the reason for the shut down, Yahoo writes:

While Yahoo Answers was once a key part of Yahoo’s products and services, it has become less popular over the years as the needs of our members have changed. To that end, we have decided to shift our resources away from Yahoo Answers to focus on products that better serve our members and deliver on Yahoo’s promise of providing premium trusted content.

To simultaneously celebrate and mourn the loss of the great Yahoo Answers, we’ve rounded up some of the best and most iconic moments for you.

1. What did my dad say to me?

2. How is babby formed?

3. Do you think humans will ever walk on the sun?

5. Can I name my band radiohead 2?

6. IF YOU DIE IN CANADA DO YOU DIE IN REAL LIFE?

7. Does spider have pusspuss?

8. Are pokemon real i want to know? ?

9. How can I test if my son is gay?

10. And lastly… the greatest modern masterpiece of our time: the pregnancy compilation.

For those of us with more questions, Yahoo Answers has set up a help page to assist users with the difficult transition.

And one user has already asked the most important question of all: Who do you blame for yahoo answers getting shutdown?

How are you handling the news that Yahoo Answers will shut down? Does it feel like our generation’s library of Alexandria?
