Here we go again — last month, Cher broke the news that her next album would be an ABBA tribute. Now, we have our first peek — today, Cher tweeted a 40-second teaser of her Gimme Gimme Gimme cover, and we can’t wait to take a chance, take a chance, take a chan-chance on the full album.

After a Twitter countdown, Cher shared the beginning of her Gimme Gimme Gimme cover. Opening with a slightly distorted guitar riff, Cher turns her “Believe” vocoder back on to sing the hook on a bombastic modern-day club version of the disco hit.

Cher in ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’

Previously, Cher said that she was inspired to do a full album of ABBA tunes due to performing “Fernando” for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. On The Today Show last month, she told Kathie Lee Gifford, “I thought it would really be fun to do an album of ABBA songs. So I did.”

In addition to “Fernando,” Cher also sings “Super Trouper” for the film. Cher portrays Ruby Sheridan, the mother of Meryl Streep’s character.

2018 is a big year for Cher. In addition to Mamma Mia and the new ABBA tribute, she is also one of this year’s Kennedy Center Honorees. She’s also the subject of an upcoming Broadway musicalThe Cher Show — which has already opened in Chicago.
