The internet nearly blew up in October 2018 when news came down that Lady Gaga was engaged to Christian Carino, a man who many (other than Little Monsters, no doubt) had never heard of. The pop artist (and star of the film A Star Is Born) gave a speech at Elle magazine’s 25th annual “Women in Hollywood” event and offhandedly referred to Carino as “My fiancé, Christian.” But who is Christian Carino?
Well, for starters, he’s gorgeous. But what about his career, his (now-former) relationship with Gaga … and his tattoos?
Here’s everything we know about Gaga’s former fiancé, Christian Carino:
He’s 49 years old.
He’s a talent manager.
In addition to repping Lady Gaga (it’s believed he will continue to do so), Christian Carino reps other talents through Creative Artists Agency, commonly referred to as “CAA.” Over the years he’s repped Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, Simon Cowell, Jennifer Lopez and others.
Carino is close friends with American designer Tommy Hilfiger.
Before dating Gaga, he dated Lauren Cohan, an actress who starred on The Walking Dead.
And before that he was married to Brooke Baldwin (1997–2015), with whom he has two daughters, Isabella and Lola.
Christian Carino and Lady Gaga were first spotted together publicly at a Grammys afterparty, at a Kings of Leon concert and in the lead up to Gaga’s Super Bowl Halftime performance. They were seen kissing and taking selfies on the football field.
Us magazine claims Christian Carino asked Gaga’s pops, Joe Germanotta, for permission to marry her before the happy couple got engaged.
Their engagement after six months together was kept a secret last summer.
And then all doubts they were dating were erased when this photo was posted on Instagram:
Carino proposed with a giant pink sapphire ring with a diamond halo, which Cosmopolitan suggests is likely worth $300,000–$400,000.
Several of Carino’s Instagram posts are shots of the couple doing “couple stuff.”
He has Gaga’s face tattooed on his arm — an image from a photoshoot of her in pigtails. (Does Gaga also have a tattoo of Christian Carino? We aren’t sure.)
What we are sure of is that these two were seriously in love before the announcement this week that the two fiancés officially split. “It just didn’t work out. Relationships sometimes end,” a source told People magazine after Gaga’s rep confirmed the breakup. “There’s no long dramatic story.”
Speculation that the formerly happy couple had split began when they did not attend the Grammys on Feb. 10 together. Gaga also wasn’t wearing her engagement ring and failed to thank Christian Carino in her acceptance speech when she won Best Pop Duo or Group Performance for “Shallow.”
What do you think of Christian Carino? Were you a fan of his and Lady Gaga’s relationship?
