A Hong Kong Street Crowd Cheers When They Discover a Couple Having Public Sex Is Gay

Hong Kong has been having a rough go of it recently. Despite being the host of the 2022 Gay Games and of the more LGBTQ-accepting parts of Asia, one of its courts recently ruled against same-sex marriage, and the prevalence of HIV and so-called ex-gay conversion therapy are both on the rise. Thankfully, some of the country’s citizens appreciate same-sex couples, even going so far as to cheer when they see one making sweet love in an open window. In fact, the entire thing was caught in a Hong Kong gay sex video that has since gone viral (below).
In the viral video, a street crowd of about a dozen people in Hong Kong’s Sheung Wan neighborhood watches a couple doing the deed. At first, only the backside of the shirtless top’s upper half is visible as he thrusts against his partner, his partner’s legs both in the air.
According to Shanghaiist, “One man is heard admonishing some youngsters, saying they aren’t yet old enough to watch what is going on. Another is heard wondering if the couple are doing some yoga.” At one point, an older man chides some children for watching something so age-inappropriate.
When the couple finishes, some crowd members start chanting, “Stand up!” But another person shushes them, lest they scare away the exhibitionist lovemakers. The top then gets a towel for his partner, but the crowd still hasn’t seen the partner’s face.
Then, finally, the partner rises and — lo and behold — it’s not a woman, but a man. And the crowd erupts in amazed cheers.

The Hong Kong gay sex video went viral on Chinese-language social media before being taken down for its sexual content.
Despite the fact that police are reportedly investigating the couple and could punish them with a HK$1,000 fine ($127) and six months jail time, it’s nice to know that the couple at least had some fans. Hopefully they’ll be cheering just as loudly for the clothed LGBTQ competitors when the Gay Games arrives in 2022.
