Yas Queen! Let’s Remember All 54 Guest Stars From the First Four Seasons of ‘Broad City’

Few television series know how to milk a guest star like the hilarious Broad City. And with the show’s final season set to begin this month, it’s fair to say the Broad City guest stars game isn’t finished yet.

So in excitement for what’s to come, let’s remember every single one of the Broad City guest stars we were treated to in the show’s first four seasons. With 54 Broad City guest stars total, it’s no easy task, but we’re up for the job. Here’s the complete list, along with our thoughts on each.

Here’s a look at all the Broad City guest stars from the show’s first four seasons:

1. Fred Armisen in “What A Wonderful World” (Season 1, Episode 1)

It shouldn’t be surprising that Broad City guest stars date back all the way to the very beginning. In the show’s debut episode, “What a Wonderful World,” Fred Armisen appears as an adult baby fetishist. He asks Abbi and Ilana to clean his apartment while wearing lingerie … but then insists babies have no idea of money when it comes time to pay.

2. Rachel Dratch in “Working Girls” (Season 1, Episode 3)

Rachel Dratch appears in “Working Girls” as Linda Lodi, the put-upon head of a temp agency Ilana torments. She appears again in the Season 3 episode “2016.”

3. Janeane Garofalo in “Working Girls” (Season 1, Episode 3)

Janeane Garofalo also makes an appearance in “Working Girls.” As Ilana becomes the world’s worst dog walker, she comes into contact with Monica the veterinarian. Ilana asks her if dog hemorrhoid cream would work “on human buttholes.” Monica makes another appearance during the dog wedding in Season 2’s “The Matrix,” also known as the episode in which Ilana has sex with a tree to completion.

4. Steven Ogg in “The Lockout” (Season 1, Episode 4)

You might not necessarily know Steven Ogg’s name, but you know his work. He played the gamer-favorite character Trevor Philips in Grand Theft Auto V. He’s also Simon in The Walking Dead. But in Broad City he’s the creepy locksmith who let Abbi and Ilana into the wrong apartment after they figured — rightly — he would remember where they lived.

5 & 6. Jason Mantzoukas and Matt L. Jones in “Fattest Asses” (Season 1, Episode 5)

Jason Mantzoukas (Comedy Bang! Bang! The League) and Matt L. Jones (“Badger” on Breaking Bad) show up as Broad City guest stars playing a couple of gross DJs who hookup with Abbi and Ilana (though they seemed more interested in having a foursome).

7. Amy Sedaris in “Apartment Hunters” (Season 1, Episode 9)

Amy Sedaris is a comedy legend. The Strangers With Candy star was one of many Broad City guest stars as Pam, a realtor who helps Abbi when she’s looking for a new apartment. Sadly, Pam hasn’t made an appearance since — but there’s always hope!

8. Amy Poehler in “The Last Supper” (Season 1, Episode 10)

It’s no surprise that Amy Poehler has shown up in Broad City. After all, she’s not only the executive producer of the show; she discovered them. What is surprising is that so far she’s only made one appearance as the chef at the fancy restaurant in “The Last Supper,” the Season 1 finale.

9. Seth Morris in “The Last Supper” (Season 1, Episode 10)

Poehler brought along her NBC co-worker Seth Morris for “The Last Supper.” In the episode, he plays the head waiter of Octavia, who also happens to be the head chef’s boyfriend.

10. Seth Rogen in “In Heat” (Season 2, Episode 1)

broad city guest stars seth rogen

Season 2 is when Broad City guest stars began to include famous people in earnest. And the Season 2 premiere, “In Heat,” brought a good one. Seth Rogen plays Male Stacy, the guy Abbi hooks up with in the middle of a heat wave.

11. Kumail Nanjiani in “In Heat” (Season 2, Episode 1)

Rogen isn’t the only famous face to show up in “In Heat.” Kumail Nanjiani, comedian and writer/star of The Big Sick, has a small role as Abbi and Ilana are trying to earn money for an air conditioner. Nanjiani plays Bevers’ Go-Pro-sporting friend Benny who hires (and then rips off) Abbi and Ilana to empty a moving truck.

12. Raviv Ullman in “In Heat” (Season 2, Episode 1)

The last guest star in “In Heat” is Raviv Ullman, who plays the underage venture capitalist wannabe. Ilana and Abbi smoke him out in an attempt to claim her old air conditioner.

13 & 14. Susie Essman and Bob Balaban in “Knockoffs” (Season 2, Episode 4)

Ilana’s parents are amaaaazing. Susie Essman and Bob Balaban are the MVPs of their two episodes. Bobbi shops for the perfect fake designer handbag and Arthur learns about the wonders of pegging. (They both show up again in Season 3’s “Burning Bridges,” also known as the Mrs. Doubtfire episode.)

15. Amy Ryan in “Kirk Steele” (Season 2, Episode 8)

Perhaps our favorite of Ilana’s odd jobs is when she babysits Oliver, the adorable kid played by Grayson Taylor. She doesn’t get a lot to do, but we also love Amy Ryan as Oliver’s mom.

16. Kimiko Glenn in “Kirk Steele” (Season 2, Episode 8)

Another great cameo is Orange Is the New Black‘s Kimiko Glenn. Glenn plays the Beacon’s Closet clerk who’s deeply unimpressed with the clothes Abbi and Ilana try to sell.

17. Alia Shawkat in “Coat Check” (Season 2, Episode 9)

Alia Shawkat’s guest appearance as Ilana’s doppelbanger is based on real life. When the real Abbi and Ilana first met at New York’s Upright Citizens Brigade theater, Abbi thought Ilana was Alia Shawkat and had to work up to introducing herself. It turned out, obviously, not to be Shawkat — but any disappointment was alleviated by the formation of one of the best comedy duos of the last decade.

18. Kelly Ripa in “Coat Check” (Season 2, Episode 9)

“Coat Check” is many people’s favorite episode of Broad City, and a lot of that has to do with Kelly Ripa’s amazing spot, starring as herself. (Well, kinda. We’re pretty sure the real Ripa isn’t a hedonistic drug fiend as she’s portrayed on the show.) Sadly, Ripa’s not come back yet.

19. David Wain in “Coat Check” (Season 2, Episode 9)

The State‘s David Wain would have been a pretty big get, but in “Coat Check,” he’s a bit of a footnote. He’s the real owner of the coat Abbi and Ilana get from the titular coat check.

20 & 21. Aidy Bryant and Connor O’Malley in “St. Marks” (Season 2, Episode 10)

Saturday Night Live‘s Aidy Bryant and her real-life significant other Connor O’Malley show up in “St. Marks” as the obnoxious performance-art couple that joins Abbi and Ilana’s birthday dinner.

22 & 23. Patricia Clarkson and Leo Fitzpatrick in “St. Marks” (Season 2, Episode 10)

Leo Fitzpatrick is the “runaway teen” who rips off Abbi and Ilana during their walk around St. Mark’s Place. But when Abbi and Ilana trail him to his house, they find out from his mother, Patricia Clarkson, that he’s not a runaway. He’s just a spoiled brat.

24. Jiggly Caliente in “St. Marks” (Season 2, Episode 10)

Finally, in “St. Marks,” RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Jiggly Caliente has a small cameo as the clerk who sells Ilana a wig.

25. Emily Meade in “Two Chainz” (Season 3, Episode 1)

The Season 3 premiere, “Two Chainz,” is another episode where Abbi and Ilana wander around the city. In this one, they end up at an art show by Abbi’s college roommate Maxanne, played by The Deuce star Emily Meade.

26. Har Mar Superstar in “Two Chainz” (Season 3, Episode 1)

broad city guest stars oy bomb

Singer Har Mar Superstar has a small but memorable role in “Two Chainz” as the shirtless performance artist OY BOMB. For you kids out there, that’s a reference to Michael Portnoy, who during Bob Dylan’s performance at the 1998 Grammys took off his shirt revealing the words “SOY BOMB.” He then danced behind Dylan until he was ushered offstage.

27. Melissa Leo in “Co-Op” (Season 3, Episode 2)

Melissa Leo plays Lori, the owner of a co-op Ilana belongs to. Ilana doesn’t want to work her shift at the co-op, so she enlists Abbi to take her place. Sadly, Lori’s not fooled.

28. Vanessa Williams in “Game Over” (Season 3, Episode 3)

Vanessa Williams as Elizabeth Carlton is one of our favorite Broad City guest stars. She’s a new investor at Deals! Deals! Deals!, Ilana’s place of work. Though Ilana initially makes a good impression, that’s quickly over when she shares the Mr. Hands video over the company twitter account. (Note: If you don’t know what the Mr. Hands video is, trust us, don’t Google it. You’re better off not knowing.)

29. Whoopi Goldberg in “Game Over” (Season 3, Episode 3)

It’s not a huge role, but it’s memorable. Whoopi Goldberg appears as herself in the Sister Act-inspired finale of “Game Over.” There’s not a lot to say about it, but it’s pretty great.

30. Eugene Mirman in “Rat Pack” (Season 3, Episode 4)

Eugene Mirman, one of the most creative stand-ups working today — and Gene in Bob’s Burgers — has a small role as Zed. He’s the exterminator who won’t come down in price for solving Ilana and Jaime’s rat problem. It’s a small role, but anything with Mirman is welcome.

31. Alan Alda in “2016” (Season 3, Episode 5)

Best known as Hawkeye in M*A*S*H, Alan Alda plays another super-doctor in Broad City. Here he’s Abbi’s chiropractor who dispenses all sorts of wonderful advice, most notably the recommendation to make an appointment at the DMV rather than waiting in line. Is there nothing Hawkeye can’t do?

32. Cynthia Nixon in “2016” (Season 3, Episode 5)

Cynthia Nixon is Barb, the head of the campaign office where Ilana starts volunteering. She’s absolutely delightful, especially when she goes over the likely answers cold-callers will get.

33. Hillary Clinton in “2016” (Season 3, Episode 5)

We’re not actually sure who this person is. She must know Abbi and Ilana or something.

34. Tony Danza in “Philadelphia” (Season 3, Episode 6)

We got to meet Ilana’s parents back in Season 2, and in Season 3, we meet Abbi’s dad. Sadly, he can’t hold a candle to Bobbi and Arthur Wexler, but Tony Danza is a loving, devoted dad. (Even if he doesn’t get a first name in the show, as he’s only ever addressed as Mr. Abrams. Though, given Danza’s filmography, we’re going out on a limb and assuming Mr. Abrams’ first name is Tony.)

35. Blake Griffin in “B&B-NYC” (Season 3, Episode 7)

Professional basketball player Blake Griffin appears in Broad City as himself. We don’t think it was hard to persuade him to take the role. After all, his character’s defining characteristic is that his penis is too big.

36. Mara Wilson in “Burning Bridges” (Season 3, Episode 8)

The “Burning Bridges” episode is an homage to the double-identity scene of Mrs. Doubtfire. Abbi’s having dinner with both Trey and Ilana’s parents (yaaay!) — but neither party knows she’s with the other. Given the episode’s obvious source, it makes sense that Mara Wilson, the little girl from Mrs. Doubtfire (and a great author in her own right) has a cameo as the waitress.

37. Seth Green in “Jews on a Plane” (Season 3, Episode 10)

Seth Green plays Jared, the leader of a Birthright group, which is an organization that provides free tours of Israel for young Jewish adults from around the world. Though Birthright is more about getting in touch with your roots (and potentially meeting a significant other of the same faith), of course Abbi and Ilana are just interested in the free trip. (For what it’s worth, he also appears at the tail end of the previous episode, “Getting There,” but really, “Jews on a Plane” is his time to shine.)

38. Adam Levine in “Jews on a Plane” (Season 3, Episode 10)

Maroon 5’s Adam Levine has a small cameo in “Jews on a Plane,” too. He plays himself, singing through the flight instructions. You know, sort of like the Virgin Airlines flight safety song featuring Todrick Hall.

39 & 40. Tracee Ellis Ross and Tymberlee Hill in “Jews on a Plane” (Season 3, Episode 10)

Even though there’s a number of guest stars in this episode, Tracee Ellis Ross and Tymberlee Hill steal the show. Ross and Hill play flight attendants Winona and Mona. While we’ll probably never see them again — after this episode, we’d be surprised if Abbi and Ilana fly anywhere ever again — we’d love to. Maybe they can show up in that Kelly Ripa spinoff that totally needs to happen.

41. Constance Shulman in “Sliding Doors” (Season 4, Episode 1)

In the Season 4 premiere, which is Broad City‘s take on the premise of 1998 movie Sliding Doors, the Orange Is the New Black alumna plays a psychic who tells Abbi and Ilana they’re going to die. Naturally the ladies shrug off her prediction and instead decide to get Abbi a lower back tattoo of Oprah’s face.

42. Wanda Sykes in “Twaining Day” (Season 4, Episode 2)

broad city guest stars wanda sykes

We were stoked to see the hilarious Wanda Sykes come on board as one of the many Broad City guest stars in this episode. Sykes plays Abbi’s macaron-hating boss, Dara, who also appears in this season’s Episode X, in which Abbi accidentally kills Dara’s cat. Whoops.

43. RuPaul in “Twaining Day” (Season 4, Episode 2)

broad city guest stars rupaul

As Marcel, RuPaul plays Ilana’s boss, the blunt and brash man behind Sushi Mambeaux. He, too, appeared on a few episodes during Season 4.

44. Shania Twain in “Twaining Day” (Season 4, Episode 2)

Her name had come up so many times by the time we got to Season 4, but finally the Canadian country songbird made a guest appearance! It made for great TV to see Abbi lie about having trained Shania Twain for so many years, only to have her actually train the singer alongside Trey in this ep.

45. Sandra Bernhard in “Twaining Day” (Season 4, Episode 2)

We can’t get enough of Sandra Bernhard, who plays Sushi Mambeaux employee Brenda. Later in the season we discover that all this time Brenda has been using the restaurant to operate her own prostitution ring. She’s completely insane, and we love her.

46. Miriam Shor in “Just the Tips” (Season 4, Episode 3)

After Abbi fabricates a relationship out of her six-day fling with Mike, she has the nerve to unload some relationship advice onto this woman who’s down in the dumps over her own relationship. Once Shor (whom you know as Yitzhak from Hedwig and the Angry Inch) finds out Abbi has known Mike for only six days, she can’t help but laugh in Abbi’s face.

47. Peri Gilpin in “Abbi’s Mom” (Season 4, Episode 5)

Gilpin plays Abbi’s mom, Joanne, who throughout the episode shrugs off her boring, safe life and decides to take a few chances. She has a crush on Abbi’s roommate Bevers, smokes pot with her daughter and dances atop a table at Sushi Mambeaux before making out with Ilana’s coworker Owen.

48. Jane Curtin in “Witches” (Season 4, Episode 6)

This SNL legend plays Margot, who maybe has secret powers? (She always seems to appear out of thin air.) Basically, Margot is a witch, and eventually turns Abbi and Ilana into embracing their own inner witches, which is something we can get behind.

49. Greta Lee in “Witches” (Season 4, Episode 6)

Greta Lee plays Dr. Elizabeth, a dermatologist Abbi meets who looks way young for her age. So much so that after meeting her Abbi decides to get Botox injections. But it turns out the doctor’s skin is so great because she refuses to have a good time, saying laugh lines are dangerous, and that’s just no way to live.

50. Fran Drescher in “Florida” (Season 4, Episode 7)

broad city guest stars fran drescher

It’s one of the show’s best episodes, when the girls (along with Ilana’s family) head to Florida. Drescher plays Aunt Bev, who fights with Ilana’s mom over their recently deceased mother’s belongings. Get some pot in her, though, and she’s lovely as can be. Here’s hoping she makes another appearance in the show’s final season.

51. Mike Birbiglia in “House-Sitting” (Season 4, Episode 8)

When Abbi and Ilana house-sit for a super-rich family that has headed to the Hamptons, Abbi finds her former high school English teacher Mr. Miller (Birbiglia) on Bumble and invites him over for a civilized get-together. But once he confesses he was attracted to her when she was in school, and then wants to role-play that she’s 17, she freaks out (understandably). Luckily a dryer fire let’s her escape the situation.

52. Steve Buscemi in “Bed Bugs” (Season 4, Episode 9)

Add one more creep to the roles Steve Buscemi has played. As one of Season 4’s Broad City guest stars, he’s the mugger who makes fun of Abbi’s ATM pin and then laughs at how little money she has in the bank.

53. Cynthia Erivo in “Bed Bugs” (Season 4, Episode 9)

As Abbi’s new boss at Anthropologie near the close of Season 4, we may just get to see more of Cynthia Erivo.

54. Denis O’Hare in “Friendiversary” (Season 4, Episode 10)

From the Empire State Building, Abbi and Ilana look through a telescope and see what they think is Denis O’Hare throw a woman over a balcony. Without evidence, the police can’t help, so the girls take it upon themselves to solve the case, eventually ending up in his apartment closet. As it turns out, O’Hare’s character isn’t a murderer at all; he’s just a fan of sex dolls.

Which of all the Broad City guest stars are your your favorites?
